Blade Runner:
VR Experience.

What started as a fascination with VR evolved into a multi-year technical challenge. I set out to create a 1:1 virtual reconstruction of the iconic opening scene from Blade Runner. The thing is, I didn’t know how, so I spent the next few years teaching myself Game Development and 3D Hard Surface Modelling.

More Blade Runner
than Blade Runner.

It wasn't just about making a game; it was an obsession with "screen-accurate" detail. I tracked down and interviewed original crew members who worked on the Ridley Scott film to pick their brains about every aspect of the scene, from the Tyrell Corporation’s architecture to the intricate, asymmetrical geometry of the Voight-Kampff machine. It was a labour of love that truly paid off the moment you put the headset on.

“You ever take
that test yourself?”

I spent weeks on forums discussing the nuances of the “machine” with avid VK prop builders. There are no original plans left to work off so it has been up to the community to piece together “the right” way to build one. It is regarded as one of the hardest movie props to make. It’s certainly hard for a new entrant to 3D modelling. There’s no there is no symmetry. No logic. You just have to eyeball the whole thing.
